At the AIPPI World Congress you will broaden your IP knowledge, network with your peers, and attend events at unique venues. Most importantly, we will be focusing on a series of panels and proposed resolutions covering current hot topics and in particular:

- Frand: A discussion of where we are on FRAND, following the ruling of the UK court in InterDigital v Lenovo on 16 March 2023. Will UK courts continue to lead the way with FRAND determinations? Is a new wave of SEP actions emerging in the new UPC system that is predicted to launch in June 2023?

- Experimental use: AIPPI’s Standing Committees on Pharma and Biotech propose a resolution on whether mere experimental use (not going as far as selling products) would or should infringe patents. This is a complex and very relevant topic for life sciences R&D.

- UPC: The UPC is expected to open its doors in June 2023, and by the time of the Istanbul Congress some early experiences of the new system may already have been gained. These issues will be explored in Istanbul in the context of a UPC mock trial and panel discussion.
